Uniformitarianism's Evil Fruit

Dear Dr. Jackson,
I was just wondering if you could comment on the theory of uniformitarianism, I really believe it is the root of evolution a fulfillment of 2 Peter 3:3-7.
Also, is there any other scripture where atheism/evolution is prophesied or spoken of in the Bible? -Isaac (Saw you at CFNI!)

2 Pet 3:3-6 "Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts. And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continueas they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they are willingly ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished."

Romans 1:20-25 (very good discussion in all of Chapter 1)Romans 1:28 "And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient..."

Psalms 14:1 and 53:1 both say, "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God."

1 Corinthians 4:15 "For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers..."

Neanderthals were people, too! CM2.5M

Hey Dr J,

Is this correct? [in reference to Neanderthal mtDNA being "non-human"]

You're awesome, God Bless

Check this link for the evidence that Neanders were people: http://www.livescience.com/humanbiology/061115_neanderthal_dna.html

Chimps -- from Humans?!

Why do evolutionists believe that humans evolved from chimpanzee and not that chimpanzee evolved from humans? Eliezer from Central Christian College of the Bible, in Moberly MO

Pre-Flood Civilization

[this is a question in an email that I received from a reader]

I was wondering. . . is there any evidence of pre-flood civilization? Or did God wipe out everything?

Punctuated Equilibrium

Hello Dr. J.

I don't think punctuated equilibrium put so much design and detail into things.

[this is an email question that I received this week]

Is it right to say that the mention of "kinds" in the Genesis account explains why the DNA cannot randomly add information to itself, being that the "species", "phyla", "Families" etc. are fixed biological categories from God Himself?

The Age of the Earth

Dear Dr. Charles, I've been taught all my life that the earth is only 4,000 or 6,000 years old (I can't remember which one). And If that's according to the bible, then how do evolutionists date fossils back to millions of years ago? Sincerely,Samantha

note to viewers: Please remember the advantage of watching these videos ... you can pause on any chart that you want to look at for longer ... and you can replay the video as many times as you need to, if you have troubles understanding the information the first time through ... DrJ

Human Chromosome 2 Fusion (2min42sec)

[this is an email that I received from a reader]

I'm sure you've heard of Chromosome 2 -- how it is supposedly "proof" that Evolution is true (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromosome_2_%28human%29). I'm skeptical about the claim that it is proof of a common ancestor. What really makes me raise my eyebrows is the statement that the DNA in two of a chimpanzee's chromosomes (when viewed as one chromosome) are nearly identical to the one chromosome that we have. What do they mean by nearly identical? Chimpanzee DNA is already 95% similar to ours (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12368483). I would consider that "nearly identical" and yet we are radically different creatures. What's your take on Chromosome 2 and the alleged fusion? - Brett

Sci-fi movies & Evolution

POINTS OF ORIGINS with Dr. Jackson Creation Truth Foundation www.CreationTruth.com

Is it okay for a Christian to like sci-fi movies—even though they usually favor evolution?
I had one student ask me, "Dr. Jackson, how come you liked X-Men, since the theme is mutation and evolution?" My answer—"Everybody knows these films are science fiction. And that's the only best use I can think of for evolution—fiction!"
The link below is a just-excellent Christian review of the recent hit movie Avatar. It congratulates the movie-makers for their great special effects and storytelling ability—even pointing out some Biblical parallels in the storyline. But it also gives a very detailed description of all of the gobs of Biblical Worldview pitfalls in this and many other media products. I got a lot out of reading the review—I hope you will, too. Second Law of Thermodynamics

Dear Charles, when I listened to your blog, I was reminded of a tape I listened to by Chuck Missler on Information theory. He applied that theory to what you were talking about and used the old "garbage in garbage out" rule in computer science to debunk the evos' use of mutations as viable support for the transformation of species. Am I correct in seeing that connection? I wondered to if the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics would have any application to what you were saying. Mahlon (near Tulsa OK)

latest Ark Carbon-14?

"Any first year Chemistry student knows that you can't accurately carbon date anything that has been submerged in the ocean for a period of time, therefore if this was Noah's Ark carbon dating wouldnt be applicable." Dr J, Is this true? and if it is what impact would that have on carbon dating? Your Sister in Christ -Ellen-

Don't forget that the C-14 atmospheric equilibrium error would indeed throw off any dates gotten by the C-14 method for Noah's Ark, anyway. Wood cut 4458-4358 years ago, would likely end up getting dated as more like 7500-8000 years old, given that the C-14 amount in our air was rising then, and still is now.

Marine Mammals

Dr. Jackson, Why are dolphins and whales considered mammals? Doesn't this help the evo crowd? Didn't GOD make the birds and fishes (whales) on day five Genesis 1:21 and mammals (land animals) on day six? GW

note to readers: yes, there are some marine reptiles today, but they are very few ... pretty much limited to the marine iguana and sea snakes ... all marine reptiles would also have lungs ... extinct or not ... and don't forget ... people are classified by the secular taxonomy as mammals ... but not because we are the same as monkeys ... it is merely because we have nails instead of claws like they do, and opposable thumbs like they do ... but we ... don't have them on our feet! Keep thinking, DrJ

2012

(from a HS guidance counselor named Pat) I was recently holding down an algebra II class. The topic of the movie 2012 came up. Best i remembered, the [Mayan] calendar ends at Dec 21, 2012, hence the end of the world. Then, with a serious face, I announced that I did not think the world would last till then. Why? the US Navy brought me some desk top calendars, and according to them, the earth ends on June 30, 2010.

"Ardi" missing link? Not.

Dr. J: Archaeology magazine had a recent article, January/February2010,page 9, about "Ardi" --skeletal remains of Ardipithecus ramidus. She sounds like a chimp to me, but the article insists she was anancestor of humans, because of her feet. Can you comment? Joanne in NC

More DNA info?

I realized my last question was missing the emphasis that I was asking whether an evolutionist can try to say that a species can become another species through the loss of information in dna during a mutation. What would be required to happen inorder for a species to evolve into another species if it was actually possible?Geoff

PS folks, Yes I realize this looks like it got cut off, but I was really done, so it's okay. ;)

DNA Information & Speciation

Can loss of information in the dna be used to explain how species can become another species or does it require the addition of new information being added to dna in order for a transition to take place? Geoff

"Can God make a rock?"

Dr J, I've always been hit with that, "If God can do anything, can He make a rock so big that he can't lift it?" question. What would be a good way to answer with AND without scripture? Thanks! Claudia
