Is the sun a star?

POINTS OF ORIGINS with Dr. Jackson Creation Truth Foundation www.CreationTruth.com
Dr. J, would you consider the sun different from the stars themselves? Because God said, "...the sun, moon, and stars." Thank you! Alex
Alex, our star Sol is unique in many ways, but it is still a star. That Bible reference is probably more a reflection of speaking from a point of view. Here's what I mean. There millions of stores in the US. But if you live in a small town with only one, you just say to a friend, "I'm goin' tatth' Piggly Wiggly—'wanna go?" Even if you did say "to the store" they'd still think you meant "our store"Piggly Wiggly. Sol is our star. See what I mean?
Dr. David Brownlee, head of NASA's Stardust Mission said, "People say the sun is a typical star. That's not true. Almost all environments in the universe are terrible for life. It's only Garden of Eden places like Earth where it can exist." (NYT News Service 2/9/2000 Richmond-Times Dispatch, pA13) Then MisteRogers was right—we are special! Keep thinking! DrJ
